Covid-19 NSW: ICU worker’s extreme Covid measure

A woman has told of the drastic measures her loved one has taken to protect her from potential exposure.

An ICU worker in NSW has taken a drastic measure to keep his loved one safe from Covid-19.

Amy Farrugia took to social to explaining why her partner would be sleeping in a tent outside.

In the TikTok, the University of Newcastle student said her partner Jake was about to start working with Covid-19 patients in ICU.

“He wants to sleep in a tent so I don’t get sick,” she said.

“That’s where he’ll be until I’m vaccinated.”

The video shows her buying camping equipment, including a blow up mattress and blankets, and a tent pitched in the backyard.

Ms Farrugia bought a new duvet and recorded herself trying to make the bed “as comfortable as possible”.

She also left snacks and supplies inside the tent and put beers in an Esky.

The woman signed off the video telling everyone to “stay safe”.

“My vax appointment is next month so hopefully he won’t be in there long. Shout out to #healthcare workers,” her post caption read.

The video has since been viewed more than 114,000 times since it was uploaded one day ago.

Parts of NSW have been in lockdown since June 26 as the state’s Covid-19 outbreak was unable to be contained.

The state recorded 1035 new locally acquired cases on Wednesday and five people – two people in their 50s, one person in their 60s, one person in their 70s and one person in their 80s – died from the virus.
